School Leaders

Sean Gavin
Sean Gavin is the Co-Founder and  Principal of Uncommon Leadership Charter High School, which opened its doors to over 100 students and families in the Fall of 2017. Sean joined Uncommon in 2013 as an English teacher at Uncommon Collegiate Charter High School.  While at UCC, he had the privilege of teaching every grade 9-12 and served as an Instructional Leader, Department Chair, Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, and Fellow.  Prior to joining Uncommon,  Sean taught English and International Baccalaureate Performance Studies in Baltimore City Public Schools.  He received a B.A. in English and French from New York University and an Ms. Ed. from Johns Hopkins University. Sean is an alumnus of Stanford University's Hollyhock Fellowship and the Relay Graduate School of Education's National Principal Academy Fellowship.


Mitchell Lincoln
Director of Operations
Mitchell Lincoln is the Co-Founder and Director of Operations of Uncommon Leadership Charter High School, which opened in August 2017 to over 100 Brooklyn students and families.  Mitchell began his education career working with CFY (now delivering education workshops and providing technology to families in public schools in low-income communities across all five boroughs of New York City.  Mitchell has also served as the Deputy Director of Operations for the East Harlem Tutorial Program, overseeing after-school programs and joint summer programs with the East Harlem Scholars Academies Charter Schools.  He has worked in education internationally in both Africa and Central America, most recently as the Executive Director of Quetzaltrekkers León in Nicaragua.  Mitchell holds a degree in Political Science from Coe College.
