Rochester Prep posted exceptional results in both NYS Math and ELA tests during its second year.

98% of Rochester Prep 6th grade students scored proficient or above on the 2008 Math state assessment.  This ranks Rochester Prep as the top performing public school in Monroe County on the exam, though its students are eight to ten times more likely to live in poverty than students in top performing suburban districts.  By comparison, 56% of Rochester City School District students and 79% of students in New York State were proficient on the same (Grade 6) test.

Our 5th grade students also performed exceptionally well on the 2008 Math exam. 89% of Rochester Prep 5th graders scored proficient or above on the 2008 Math state assessment, compared to 59% for Rochester City School District and 83% across New York State on the same (5th grade) test..

Rochester Prep is equally proud of the stellar English Language Arts scores posted in 2008.

84% of Rochester Prep's 6th grade students scored proficient or above on the NYS ELA test, compared to 56% of District students and 67% of students across New York State on the same (6th grade) assessment.  Again, this places Rochester Prep among the highest performing schools in Monroe County.

The difference between Rochester Prep and the district/state in ELA scores is already sizeable, but we think the numbers indicate a continuing trajectory of even more dramatic growth that will show increasingly impressive results in the coming years.
