Uncommon Schools Newark consists of North Star Academy - a Blue Ribbon public charter school serving the students of Newark, New Jersey. Our students are selected by random public lottery, and 100% of our high school graduates are accepted to 4-year colleges. North Star families are primarily low-income people of color who have chosen to enter the lottery to provide their children with a high quality, college-preparatory education. North Star currently serves approximately 1,500 students. Our goal is to serve 5,000 students by 2020, all of whom will succeed in college and change history.
