The mission of Uncommon Schools Boston is to prepare students to enter, succeed in, and graduate from college.

        

 

Uncommon Schools Boston is comprised of three schools: Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, Grove Hall Preparatory Charter School, and Dorchester Preparatory Charter School. Each school is a FREE and PUBLIC school that serves/will serve students in grades 5-8. In addition, all students enrolled in each middle school will be enrolled in our high school, opening in 2015.  Each school offers:
 

  • Rigorous, college preparatory curricula
  • High academic and behavioral standards including a strict Code of Conduct and mandatory uniforms
  • Longer school day (7:30am-4:30pm) with class from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM and enrichment activities from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM
  • Three hours of homework per night
  • Outstanding teachers
  • Close partnerships with parents and families
  • Staff dedicated to assisting students with high school and college placement

School Selection Information

For the 2012-2013 school year, Uncommon Schools Boston will have openings for students entering grade 5 and grade 6.

Grade 5 Applicants
Applicants for grade 5 will have the option to apply for admission at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, Grove Hall Preparatory Charter School, and Dorchester Preparatory Charter School, along with the opportunity to rank school selections by preference.

 
Grade 6 Applicants
Applicants for grade 6 will have the option to apply for admission at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School.
 

Application Instructions

  • Applications must be received (both via mail and in-person) by 5:00pm on Friday, March 2, 2012
  • Applications transmitted via email, fax and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted
  • A confirmation postcard will be mailed within one week from application receipt; an application is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation postcard

Lottery Information

Uncommon Schools Boston’s 2012-2103 Admissions Lottery will be held at 6:00PM on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, 120 Fisher Avenue, 3rd Floor, Roxbury, MA 02120.  One admissions lottery will be held for all three schools.  If your child is awarded a seat in the admissions lottery, your child will be assigned to a school based on your school selection(s), contingent upon available seats at the school(s) of your choice.  Once the available seats at each school have been filled, applicants will be placed on a waitlist for the school(s) of their choice. Although applicants are welcome to attend the lottery, attendance is not a requirement for admission. Notification of lottery results will be sent to all applicants on Thursday, March 14, 2012.
