John King   Uncommon Schools Managing Director


John King is the Managing Director of the Excellence and Preparatory Networks of Uncommon Schools, a non-profit charter management organization. Dr. King is a Co-Founder and former Co-Director for Curriculum & Instruction of Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, a nationally recognized urban college preparatory public school that closed the Massachusetts racial achievement gap and was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of eight top charter schools in the country. Prior to co-founding Roxbury Prep, he taught high school history at City on a Hill Charter School in Boston and Saint John's School in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dr. King earned a B.A. in Government from Harvard University, an M.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, a J.D. from Yale Law School, and an Ed.D. in Educational Administrative Practice from Teachers College, Columbia University.   In addition, Dr. King serves on the faculty and Board of Directors of New Leaders for New Schools and is a 2008 Aspen Institute-NewSchools Entrepreneurial Leaders for Public Education Fellow.





Max Koltuv   Co-Director for Curriculum and Instruction


Prior to founding Leadership Prep, Mr. Koltuv was a teacher at Lawrence Community Day Charter School in Lawrence, MA and a Founder of WATCH High School in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Mr. Koltuv is a graduate of the Building Excellent Schools Fellowship, a national fellowship program which supports school founders as they create high performing urban charter schools and the KIPP Leaders-in-Training Program at the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley. In a prior life in the business world, Mr. Koltuv was a Consultant with The Monitor Company and advised Fortune 500 companies on issues of business strategy. He is a graduate of Yale College where he earned a B.A. in History.





Tara Marlovits   Co-Director for Operations and Finance


Tara Marlovits, Leadership Prep’s Co-Director for Operations and Finance, began her career in education as the founding Director of Programs at The Neighborhood Academy, an independent high school serving inner city students in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to joining Leadership Prep, Ms. Marlovits was the Associate Executive Director of Anchor, a nonprofit organization that designs and builds urban boarding schools in Brooklyn. She has extensive experience in fundraising and program development and has worked for several nonprofit organizations across the country. Ms. Marlovits holds a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross and an M.A. from Harvard University.





Sultana Noormuhammad   Dean of Students


Sultana Noormuhammad is the Dean of Students at Leadership Prep. Previously, Ms. Noormuhammad was a Founding Lead Teacher and First Grade Chair at Leadership Prep. Ms. Noormuhammad was a first grade teacher at C.S. 50 The Clara Barton School in New York City through Teach For America.  She has also served as a Program Coordinator for Global Learning in Liberia and Costa Rica. Ms. Noormuhammad holds a B.A. in International Relations from Wellesley College and has studied at Casa de las Americas in Havana, Cuba.
