Lottery Preferences

There are two types of preferences, based on Community School District and Income, applied within the admissions lottery. All grade-eligible students in New York City are encouraged to apply regardless of preference status.

Based on legislation passed in 2007*, all New York City charter schools must give preference to students residing in the Community School District (CSD) in which the charter school is located. However, students who reside outside the CSD are eligible to apply and may be admitted if space permits.

Leadership Prep Brownsville is located in Community School District #16.

*Amended New York Charter Schools Act of 1998, section 2854(2)(b)

There is also an Income Preference. You must provide approved documentation to confirm your CSD and/or Income. Please see below for further details.
