Jabali Sawicki   Principal


Jabali Sawicki is the Principal of Excellence Charter School. Prior to joining Excellence, Mr. Sawicki taught Science at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School in Boston, MA. There, he played a central role in implementing the school's academic program while founding a support group for boys and a competitive soccer program. Mr. Sawicki is a 2003 KIPP Fisher Fellow. He graduated from Oberlin College, where he received a dual degree in Biology and Philosophy, and received an M.A. in Educational Administration from Columbia University Teachers College.




Tim Saintsing   Co-Director for Operations


Tim Saintsing is the Co-Director for Operations of Excellence Charter School. Prior to joining Excellence, Mr. Saintsing managed the No Child Left Behind Public School Choice Program for the New York City Department of Education. He is a graduate of Davidson College and holds a Master of Public Policy degree from Duke University.




Elizabeth Bliss   Dean of Students


Elizabeth Bliss is the Dean of Students at Excellence. Prior to joining Excellence, Ms. Bliss was the Executive Director of the Children’s Hope Foundation in New York City, where she oversaw all activities of a non-profit that delivered quality of life services to children affected by HIV and AIDS. Ms. Bliss taught Fourth Grade at P.S. 40 in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Bliss is a graduate of Wesleyan University, where she earned a B.A. in Sociology and English, and of Pace University, where she earned an M.S. in Teaching. Ms. Bliss is an alumna of the New York City Teaching Fellows Program.


Darcy Richie    Director of Staff Development


Darcy Richie is the Director of Staff Development at Excellence. Prior to Excellence, Ms. Richie was a director and staff leader at C.E.S. 42 Elementary School in The Bronx, where she also was a Fifth Grade Teacher. Ms. Richie has served as a Curriculum Specialist at Teach For America’s Summer Institute. Ms. Richie holds a B.A. in Urban Studies and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Ed. from Bank Street College of Education. Ms. Richie is an alumna of Teach For America.



John King   Uncommon Schools Managing Director


John King is the Managing Director of the Excellence and Preparatory Networks of Uncommon Schools, a non-profit charter management organization. Dr. King is a Co-Founder and former Co-Director for Curriculum & Instruction of Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, a nationally recognized urban college preparatory public school that closed the Massachusetts racial achievement gap and was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of eight top charter schools in the country. Prior to co-founding Roxbury Prep, he taught high school history at City on a Hill Charter School in Boston and Saint John's School in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dr. King earned a B.A. in Government from Harvard University, an M.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, a J.D. from Yale Law School, and an Ed.D. in Educational Administrative Practice from Teachers College, Columbia University.   In addition, Dr. King serves on the faculty and Board of Directors of New Leaders for New Schools and is a 2008 Aspen Institute-NewSchools Entrepreneurial Leaders for Public Education Fellow.
