Please use this as a general guide to Uncommon Schools’ application process. If you have questions or concerns at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to recruitment@uncommonschools.org.
Step 1: You Apply Online!
You apply online by clicking on the “apply to Uncommon” on the career opportunities page. You will get a chance to read all job descriptions there, and submit applications to any positions. You will need to submit a resume and answer additional questions. You will not be able to save an application as you go along, but you will be able to re-enter the application portal with a username (your email address) and password (whatever you enter as a password when originally logging in) in order to apply to other jobs.
Step 2: You Hear Back from Uncommon Recruitment
You will get an email letting you know that we’ve received your application. If any information is missing or incomplete, we will reach out to you via email to request it. You will hear from us that 1) we are requesting a phone interview, 2) we cannot extend you a phone interview, or 3) we do not have a current role for your preferred position and geography, but we will keep your resume on hold. If you DO NOT hear from us within 2 weeks of submitting an application, you should check your SPAM folder for missed email and subsequently email the address above if you’ve heard nothing.
Step 3: You Interview with a Hiring Manager
Depending on the role, you will either interview with a school leader or a Home Office staff member. If you are interviewing for a teacher role, you will be requested to conduct a sample lesson at the school site. All additional relevant information will be shared with you to prepare for that sample lesson, and you will have an opportunity to ask the hiring manager any questions you may have.
Step 4: We Check Your References
We may request three professional references from you post-interview.
Step 5: We Offer You a Position!
If we are interested, we will extend an offer and you will have 1-2 weeks to get us a decision, after receiving your formal contract.
