Lauren Brom joined Uncommon Schools as a Special Projects Director in 2008 after serving as a Teach For America corps member in New York City. Further, 99% of the 7th grade students at MS 317 (KAPPA 2) passed the state math assessment. In addition to teaching, Ms. Brom wrote her school's 7th grade math curriculum and led an after school program that reinforced remedial math skills and allowed students to develop entrepreneurial skills by creating their own mini-businesses. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Brom created and executed staff workshops on collecting and tracking student data to differentiate instruction and served as the Chair of the School Leadership Team. Ms. Brom received her B.A. in Economics and Media Studies from Pomona College and will soon complete her M.A. in Teaching from Pace University.
