Searcy Milam
Director of Marketing & Communications
Searcy Milam joined Uncommon Schools in 2008 as an Associate Director of Recruitment. Previously, she taught middle school ESL and 7th grade English in East Los Angeles through Teach For America. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Milam served on the school’s five-person governing body, managed the teacher expenditure budget, and chaired the 7th Grade House committee. Originally from the Mississippi Delta, she studied abroad in Spain through a foreign studies fellowship and discovered her interest in bilingual education through tutoring elementary-age Spanish students. In her first two years at Uncommon Schools, Ms. Milam worked as an Associate Director of Recruitment. She received her B.A. in English and Hispanic Studies from Rice University.
